Dirk Pretorius is a professional GIS practitioner with a background in soil science. He is actively involved in our current DEA Bush Expert project.

He has a MSc in Soil Science and currently the manager of SMC Synergy that specialises in GIS applications in the fields of agricultural and environmental projects. SMC Synergy is the reseller of Global Mapper GIS software that was developed by the USGS. Dirk Pretorius is also involved in several projects with Prof Klaus Kellner including the Bush Expert project funded by the Department of Environmental Affairs.
