Dr Lorraine van den Berg
Production Scientist at Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute.
After matriculating in 1996 Dr. Loraine van den Berg started her tertiary education at the North‑West University, majoring in Botany and Zoology. She completed her B. Sc., B. Sc. Hons, M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees specializing in the field of restoration ecology in arid and semi‑arid parts of southern Africa. As part of her Ph.D. studies she also spent considerable time in Asia, Europe and various countries throughout Western Africa where she was involved in a number of international research projects. In 2007 she was appointed at Grootfontein ADI as Agricultural Scientist, mainly involved in lecturing of diploma students in the fields of botany and environmental management. In 2009 she was promoted to Production Scientist, focussing on research projects in the areas of botany, plant taxonomy and rangeland condition monitoring in the Eastern and Northern Cape Provinces. She is also currently appointed in the position of Acting Deputy Director: Crops and Pastures at Grootfontein.
